The urgency of ensuring affordable, clean, and sustainable access to energy and water has never been more pressing, particularly for women, who are disproportionately impacted by energy poverty and inadequate access to clean water. Addressing these challenges requires acknowledging the pivotal role of land and the necessity of sustainable land management. As a fundamental element, land is integral to energy and water management, and must be effectively incorporated into comprehensive strategies aimed at addressing these sectors.

This session will examine the critical intersection of energy, water scarcity, and land management—three interconnected challenges that align with the objectives of the Rio Conventions (UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD). It will underscore the essential role of women in managing land and natural resources, particularly through the lens of water and energy governance.

The session will facilitate a dialogue on the integration of sustainable land management strategies as foundational pillars for water and energy systems. By highlighting the leadership role of women in these efforts, the discussion aims to drive forward innovative, inclusive solutions that contribute to the achievement of global environmental goals.
